In a few hours we'll fly Lufthansa for the first time, if all goes according to the itinerary in front of me. And we'll land in Germany for a few hours (well, 6 actually!) Maybe we'll even leave the airport, since Laura has always wanted to visit Germany (where two of her grandparents were born), and I don't think being in transit in Frankfurt will quite fulfill her dreams--it was quite a jump in price if we actually stopped there for a few days.
You may remember we were hoping for visitors visas these last few months. After three months, we did get back our passports, just without visitors visas. So after Frankfurt we fly on to a place known for having the world's tallest building. It also has people who have come from all over the world to work there. In fact, only 13% of the people there are citizens according to wikipedia, and there is no naturalization process for becoming citizens. It is also a hub for international air travel.
I'll leave the rest to your imagination or independent research for now, but do keep us in your thoughts as we journey and spend time with others in their unique journeys. We hope to enjoy it, it will certainly be an adventure.
From there, we plan to head back to the US oil and gas capital, aka Houston, so we'll be away from home about a month, leaving things in our son Robert's capable hands (Right, Rob?!)
